6/2024 - Practice Reminders

Hello! I hope that you’re all enjoying this beautiful weather. Here are a few reminders for the upcoming weeks in our practice. We hope to have a summer newsletter out soon but these things are important to keep in mind:

  1. Kristy has a personal event to attend on 6/18/2024.  There will be a back up Midwife available for approximately 12 hours on Tuesday, June 18 from approximately 3 PM and after.

  2. We’ve been working on scheduling the rest of appointments throughout your pregnancy. Please notify me if you have not received email or text notifications for the rest of your appointments. If you are new to the practice, this may not apply to you as we have not yet set your appointments up. We typically do that around 16-20 weeks.

  3. My phone is always on and I check messages regularly for postpartum clients who have recently had a baby. I plan most of my client appointments for Tuesday throughThursday and Fridays until 2 PM. There has been a lot of contact on the weekends recently. Please note that Mondays are still my weekend. The exception to this is for us to attend births and immediate postpartum appointments. Please refrain from contacting us on the weekends unless it is an urgent need. Urgent needs are of a pregnancy nature (bleeding, spotting, lack of fetal movement, cramping) and not a common illness. Please be sure to access the client resources page of the website at harrisburgmidwife.com. We provide an abundance of information about basic health and illness/wellness during pregnancy in the holistic pregnancy packet and the welcome packet.

  4. It’s a great idea for you to check your stock of supplements prior to each appointment and stock up. It is often difficult for us to get supplements to you between appointments as we are not always at the office.

  5. I strongly encourage each client to have a pregnancy notebook to write down questions and topics to discuss between appointments. This is a good way to stay organized and to minimize between appointment contact. We expect there to be some between appointment contact when there are labs to review/discuss. But generally, we have client appointments scheduled throughout the week and are not able to dedicate much time to responding to emails and text messages. Tip: keeping texts short will get a faster response! Save it for the next appointment if it is a long, discussion-like text. :). I also encourage you to reduce your screen exposure in general. Here are some great reasons to turn off the laptop, phone and other blue light devices.

  6. I found a neat app that you all might appreciate. It is called dminder. Have some fun with it and most of all enjoy some outside time!
