Getting to Know Your Midwife: Kristy Wilson

When you're choosing a midwife, it's not just about services – it's about having a personal connection, finding someone who truly gets you and walks beside you on your journey.

Growing up, birth was something seldom talked about in my family. It wasn't until my second trimester of my first pregnancy that I stumbled upon the world of homebirth. It was like finding a missing piece of a puzzle. This unexpected encounter ignited a fire in me – a fire that led me to where I stand today.

My journey into midwifery wasn't a straight path. I've personally given birth naturally ten times, and I've stood alongside countless women as a midwife and doula. These moments, these stories, they've woven a tapestry of understanding and empathy within me. They've taught me that each birth is unique, each journey is personal, and every woman deserves care that honors that uniqueness.

In many ways, midwifery found me. The idea of guiding mothers through pregnancy and birth, like wise women of old, resonated deep within me. So, after giving birth to my third child in 2004, I embarked on a journey into midwifery. I embraced the timeless principles that bridge generations and combine them with modern training and knowledge. My formal apprenticeship in 2013 polished my skills under the watchful eyes of experienced midwives, shaping me into the midwife I am today.

I'm a fierce advocate for mother-and-baby centered care. My dedication to holistic living, herbalism, alternative medicine, and nutrition adds depth to my midwifery approach. I believe that your choices matter, that you should feel informed and empowered, and that your experience should reflect your values.

Beyond midwifery, my family and I live a holistic lifestyle. A farmette is our haven, where we cherish the simplicity of life and the goodness of home cooked meals. Homeschooling my children taught me to honor connections and embrace a mindful lifestyle. My journey in baton twirling as a child and young adult instilled discipline and a strong mind-body connection that I weave into my midwifery approach.

In 2018, my family and I returned to Pennsylvania, the state where I first welcomed my child into this world through homebirth. This place holds a special place in my heart, and I'm thrilled to offer homebirth midwifery services here. Outside of midwifery, you'll often find me hiking, swimming, knitting, reading, and simply relishing the moments with my loved ones.

I'm not just a midwife; I'm a friend, a companion, and a believer in the sacredness of birth.

If you're searching for a midwife who brings real-world experience, compassion, and a holistic approach to your pregnancy and birthing journey, then we're truly kindred spirits. Let's connect, and embark on this incredible journey – together.
